Mind mapping's application in my classroom would be as a graphic organizer. In the center I would put "exponents." In the surrounding bubbles I would put a list of perfect squares and perfect cubes. I would then go in reverse and put a list of square roots and cube roots. I would also include an array of bubbles that define exponent rules, such as any number raised to the zero power is one. I would also explain when it is appropriate to add, subtract, multiply, and divide the exponents.
